I have learnt that Voltaire is a French philosopher that was born in 1694, died in 1778. He is known as his defense of civil liberties. He published the book called "Candide"in 1759. It became a symbol of Enlightenment thought, with its satirical look at all aspects of society, particularly the upper classes and the Catholic church.

Wollstonecraft was the author of "Frankenstein" (1818) and "The Last Man" (1826). She was one of the few to start the genre of science fiction. She was also noted for her work in romance novels.

I think I turned my paper in, but I think Montesquieus was one of the people. He wrote Spirit of the Laws in 1748. He was concerned with political theory and in his writings explained how different people end up with different governments depending on their environment, climate, and terrain. His theories in government was the single most powerful influence on the formation of America's government. Born in 1689 and died in 1755 and was French.
